The number of bicycle accidents in the United States has more than tripled since 2000, according to the latest figures released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
While the total number of injuries reported has also skyrocketed, according, the number of people killed or seriously injured is also on the rise.
That means more people are being injured every year.
The numbers are staggering: in 2015, there were 5,844 bicycle fatalities and 6,819 serious injuries.
In 2016, there was 4,876 bicycle fatalities, 6,065 serious injuries and 7,843 total fatalities.
